The William I. Shackleton Foundation
As a DeSales student,
Bill "Shack" Shackleton lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. He epitomized the DeSales ideal in working and playing hard while treating others with respect. As an alumnus, Shack was a donor of time, talent and treasure at DeSales. He and several classmates started the 1971 Scholarship Fund,
which has awarded over $100,000 in financial aid at DeSales. Shack lost his battle with lung cancer in 2002 at the early age of 48.
Paying tribute to Shack's love of and commitment to DeSales, friends, business associates and his wife established the Shack Foundation. The annual
Shack Foundation Golf Scramble continues to be the primary fundraiser to support the foundation's mission.
